Officially opening its doors on September 21, 1995, GM Place has become symbolic of Vancouver's proud identity, serving as the city's ambassador and host to the world of sports and entertainment.
 
A staple of downtown Vancouver, General Motors Place is one of the premier sports and entertainment facilities in all of North America. Highly praised for its comfortable seating and superior sightlines, visitor hospitality lies at the heart of this 475,000 sq. ft. building.
 
Home to the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League, General Motors Place has hosted numerous national and international events over the years, as well as welcomed a countless number of world renowned personalities including former US President Bill Clinton, HRH Queen Elizabeth II, and His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
 
Serving as the primary venue for ice hockey in 2010 at the XXI Winter Olympic Games, General Motors Place will once again be front and center as the eyes of the world will be focused on watching Canada attempt to win Olympic Hockey Gold for the first time ever on home ice.

Parking

The building is within a 15 minute walk of more than 7,000 parking spots. This includes our own underground parking Lot 987, entered off Griffiths Way on the west side of the building.

During non-event days, all surrounding Impark parking lots have parking machines except for Lot 315 which is pay by cell phone only.

Accessibility

Disability parking is available in Lot 315 located off of Carroll Street, one block East of General Motors Place, and Lot 946, the International Village parking. We also have disabled parking spaces for vehicles under 6'6' high in our underground Lot 987 at General Motors Place. If you would like to reserve disabled parking underground, please call our Guests with Disabilities Hotline at(604) 899-7445 for more information.

Entrances & elevators
All entrances at General Motors Place are accessible, however, the most convenient entrance for guests using a wheelchair is our drop off and pick up area on the east side of the building at Gate 5 off of Abbott Street. Elevators are conveniently located at Gate 5 as well as Gates 1, 9 and 10.

Our Festival Walkway connecting General Motors Place to Beatty Street provides access to Balcony Level 300 seating. For those with non-visible disabilities, it may be possible to obtain a special assistance identification card allowing guests easier access to their seats. Will-Call

This is our box office where you may pick up tickets at the "will call" window. It is located on the north side of our building across from the Stadium Skytrain station, and beside Gate 10.
GM Place offers an array of specialty food and beverage products from 30 concession locations offering over 165 points of sale throughout the Plaza and Balcony concourse levels.

The building is easily accessible by public transit and the Stadium/Chinatown Skytrain station.
Our Canucks Team Store retail outlet is accessible from Gate 6 located at the corner of Abbott St and Expo Blvd. During Canuck hockey games you can access the store from the Plaza Level off the concourse at section 114. A satellite store is located at section 121 and additional merchandise kiosks are located throughout the concourses. The Canucks Team Store features an appealing selection of team apparel and souvenirs. Hours of operation are Monday to Saturday 10:000 AM to 4:30 PM. During events regular store hours may vary due to event requirements.

Fans entering General Motors Place may be requested to submit to an inspection for alcoholic beverages, bottles, food products, recording devices, laser pointers, and other prohibited items.

Use of recording devices (video or audio) is strictly prohibited.

Any fans suspected of being intoxicated may be refused entry.

It is illegal to serve alcoholic beverages to minors or to anyone suspected of being intoxicated.

Please drink responsibly and respect your fellow fans.

General Motors Place is a smoke free environment. Staff will be pleased to direct you to designated smoking areas outside of the building.

Anyone not complying with these conditions may be denied entry. Please visit our Guest Service Centres to familiarize yourself with our Guest Conduct policies.

At General Motors Place, an individual’s conduct must be bounded by the law and by the right of others to enjoy the event, and should not offend or be abusive to others.

The following examples of behaviour are not acceptable and may result in eviction from General Motors Place and / or arrest:

  • Use of abusive, profane, or threatening language
  • Possession of:
  • unauthorized banners, signs, or noise makers
  • bottles, cans, Frisbee, beach ball, sling shot, or other projectiles
  • alcoholic beverages and food not purchased in the arena
  • fireworks, weapons, audio & video recording devices, irregular sound devices, sticks, nets, skateboards, wearing roller blades, or any object which may cause injury or obstruct the vision of other guests.
  • illegal or noxious substances
  • stolen tickets
  • animals other than service animals for guests with disabilities
  • Smoking in a non-designated area
  • Failure to wear footwear, wearing obscene or indecent clothing
  • Entering an area or seat for which the guest does not have a ticket for or access
  • Throwing or attempting to throw objects, spitting or dropping objects on to seating areas, playing surface or stage, or outside the arena
  • Public drunkenness
  • Fighting or threatening to fight
  • Any other conduct deemed by General Motors Place to be inappropriate to the peace and good order of events or which may adversely affect the safety of persons or property.

Guests should be alert and aware of hockey pucks that may enter the seating area. Risk of injury is greatly increased by those who are not aware of the play in progress.

Do you have disabled washrooms?

Unisex or family service washrooms are located on Level 100 at sections 103 and 109 and on Level 300 at section 319. All other washrooms have wheelchair accessible stalls.

Where can I go to smoke while attending an event at General Motors Place?

We are a non-smoking facility in accordance with the Vancouver City Health By-law.

Areas for smoking during events are outside of Gates 2, 3, 7and 8.

Effective September 15, 2008 the outside designated smoking areas will no longer be in effect. Once a guest enters General Motors Place, they will not be granted in and out privileges at any gate.

Is there a place to feed my baby?

Family service washrooms are located on Level 100 at sections 103 & 109 and Level 300 at section 319.  These rooms are equipped with baby change tables and chairs.

Do you have bank cash machines inside the building?

We have seven (7) ATM bank machines located at sections 101, 104 and 114 on the Plaza leve and sections 306, 310 and 316 on the Balcony level.  An ATM is also located outside the Brew House Grill restaurant.

Yes, we have booster chairs at Guest Services Centres at sections 114 & 310. They are available on a first come, first serve basis. Guests will be asked to leave their Driver's license or credit card number as a deposit.

How can I purchase underground parking at General Motors Place for events?

For Hockey: suite holders and club seat holders have prepaid season passes for the underground parking lot.

For Concerts: Guests may prepay for parking when they purchase tickets for an event through Ticketmaster. Parking underground on the day of the event is available on a first come, first serve basis.

For Disabled Guests: Guests should call the Guests wtih Disabilities Hotline at 604.899.7445 to reserve an underground disabled parking stall. Stalls are limited and are sold on a first come, first serve basis.

How can I put a birthday or anniversary message on the Video board and how much does it cost?

Special messaging on the videoboard is $20.

Cameras and photography are generally restricted for most events.

What time do the doors open for the hockey game or any other event?

Doors typically open one hour before the start of the event. (For example: if hockey starts at 7:00 PM, the doors will open at 6:00 PM).  Please contact us at 604.899.7400 to confirm door opening times for a specific event.

Can I use my charge cards at the concessions?

Yes, all permanent concession stands will accept Visa, Mastercard or American Express. All portable kiosks accept only cash. INTERAC CARDS CAN ONLY BE USED AT ATM MACHINES.
Canuck member cards can also be used at all concession locations where credit cards are accepted.  Member cards can be used to purchase food & beverage during Canuck games and all other events at General Motors Place.

Where can I go to eat before or after the game?

The Brew House Grill located on level 4 is open two hours prior to game time and approximately one hour post game. Located on the north side of the building, the Brew House Grill is open during Vancouver Canuck hockey games only.

How can I get a player's autograph or appearance? Can I get players' autographs during warm-ups?

Unfortunately due to the high number of requests, we are unable to accommodate these types of requests.

Throughout the year, players will make special appearances at various events and locations around the lower mainland where fans are able to meet players and receive autographs. Dates and locations of player appearances are posted on the Canucks.com website.

Canucks practices are open for the general public at 8 Rinks in Burnaby. Please call 604.291.0626 for the Canucks practice schedule. Team practices in General Motors Place are closed to the general public.
