The four members of the Stills have been friends since the tender age of 12. They formed the band in 2000 and then moved temporarily from their native Montreal to New York City. While in NYC, the quartet recorded their first batch of songs on a 4-track, performed a number of gigs, and an offer to sign with Vice Records quickly followed. Their lush, post-punk sound has been compared to such classic 80s bands as Echo & the Bunnymen and Joy Division.
