Animal Collective's founding members, Avey Tare and Panda Bear, began their musical collaboration in 2000 with the release of the folk-meets-electronica album Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished. Adding two new band members to the roster—Geologist and Deaken—the band's music moved into more experimental territory on their second release, Danse Manatee, an album full of electronic bleeps, cymbal crashes and otherworldly vocals. 2003 saw the release of the lo-fi folk album Campfire Songs as well as the psychedelic rock album Here Comes the Indian. The group's most accessible release to date, Sung Tongs, appeared in 2004, receiving enthusiastic praise from fans and critics alike....
